Tacere, a Finnish melodic and symphonic metal band originating from Helsinki, was formed in 2002. The group initially started as a solo project by Karri Knuuttila under the name Tacet Lacrimae but quickly evolved into a full band. In late 2005, Tacere signed with SM-Records and released their debut single "I Devour" in May 2006, followed by the EP A Voice In The Dark in November of the same year. Their first studio album, Beautiful Darkness, was released in February 2007. Helena Haaparanta, who joined in 2003, provided female vocals until her departure in April 2008, after which she was replaced by Taiya R. The band's second album, At World's End, was released in November 2012. Tacere announced their disbandment in 2014.
