Skalpel is a Polish nu jazz band that emerged from Wrocław in the early 2000s. The group, which combined electronic influences with jazz harmonies, first appeared on the Polish scene with the 2003 release Sculpture. In early 2004, Skalpel followed up with the thematic album 1958 on 15 March and their self‑titled record Skalpel on 18 April, cementing their reputation for experimental grooves. Their subsequent release Break Out added a more melodic edge, while the 26 September 2005 album Konfusion showcased tighter arrangements and expanded collaborations with local musicians. Throughout its brief but prolific career, Skalpel toured extensively across Poland and attracted attention from independent labels, though it did not achieve significant chart positions or awards before disbanding in the mid‑200s.
