Francisco López, born 1964 in Madrid, Spain, is a Spanish experimental musician and avant-garde sound artist. After training as a biologist, he began recording insect sounds, leading to the 1983 release Untitled. López continued to release works such as TechnoCalyps (2008), Machines (2010), and Lith (2013). His installations and performances appeared at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the PS1 Contemporary Arts Center in New York, and others. López earned the Ars Electronica Honorary Mention in 1999, 2002, and 2007, the Broadcasting Art I award in 2006, and the Qwartz Award in 2010.
