The Waldos was an American rock and roll and punk band from New York City established in the late 1980s. The group was led by guitarist and vocalist Walter Lure, formerly of the band The Heartbreakers. Founded by Lure and drummer Charlie Sox, the ensemble's name was derived from Lure's stage nickname. The original lineup also included bassist and vocalist Tony Coiro and guitarist Joey Pinter. The group performed frequently at the New York venue The Continental and collaborated with prominent musicians including Johnny Thunders, Sami Yaffa, Jesse Malin, and Jerry Nolan. Their recording career consisted of the debut studio recording Rent Party (1994). Over the years, their lineup shifted to include bassist Ichuji Takanori, guitarist Takto Nakai, and drummer Joe Rizzo. The Waldos disbanded following the death of Lure from cancer on August 21, 2020.
