Hamon Martin Quintet was formed in France by Janick Martin, born 1979 in Molac, and Erwan Hamon, born 1978 in Redon, both Breton musicians. The duo initially performed traditional Breton and folk songs, gaining recognition at regional contests such as Kan ar Bobl. They expanded into a quartet with Mathieu Hamon and Ronan Pellen before adding Erwan Volant on bass, completing the quintet. They released their first album, L'Habit de plume, in 2004, followed by Les Métamorphoses (2007). Their next album, Du Silence et du Temps (2010), earned the Grand Prize for Records Made in Brittany. The Hamon Martin Quintet has performed both in concert and at traditional Breton dance festivals (fest-noz), and has toured internationally, including performances in Italy and Iran.
