Lab 4

Lab 4 is an English hard trance ensemble from Oxford established in 1994. The group consists of the musician Les Elston and previously included the musician Adam Newman. They achieved professional recognition for a musical style characterized by hard trance, trance, and hard dance. The ensemble was founded after Elston and Newman performed in the ensemble M.A.D. They achieved professional recognition for performing at the venue Club UK, the venue Torture Garden, and the venue Brixton Academy. The ensemble achieved professional recognition for the studio recording Neurocide (1999) and the studio recording Evilution (2000). Their discography included the studio recording Devilution (2001) and the studio recording Virus (2002) which was launched during the radio program John Peel Sessions. They achieved professional recognition for the song “Unbelievable” (2002) which reached number 78 in the United Kingdom and number 14 on the UK Dance Singles Chart. The ensemble achieved professional recognition for the song “Requiem/4th Floor” (2002) which reached number 98 in the United Kingdom and the song “Candyman” (2003) which reached number 90. Their recording career included the studio recording Devilution 3 (2004) and the studio recording None of Us Are Saints (2006). The ensemble became inactive in 2006 and resumed activity in 2009. Newman became inactive in 2019 and Elston continued as a solo project. Their recording career included the song “Gilgamesh” (2013) featured in the film Time Lapse and a remix of the song “Concept of Love” (2020).
