Akrea is a German melodic death metal band formed in 2004 in Erbendorf as “Inner Aggression” by Jonas Nelhiebel, Fabian Panzer, and Christian Simmerl. Sebastian Panzer joined as the vocalist in 2005, and Stephan Schafferhans joined as a second guitarist in 2006. The group self-produced its debut studio album, Beginning of an Inner War, in 2007. In 2008, the ensemble signed with Drakkar Entertainment and adopted the name Akrea. The band released the recording Lebenslinie in April 2009. To promote the work, the group performed on the Schre!nachten-Tour with Die Apokalyptischen Reiter. Akrea released the album Lügenkabinett in October 2010 and the single “Meteor” in 2011. The ensemble's final studio album, Stadt der toten Träume, appeared in August 2013. The band became inactive in late 2014 due to the members' career and family plans. Former members Sebastian Panzer, Schafferhans, and Simmerl joined the group Aspar in 2018.
