Mantus is a gothic music project founded around 1997 by Martin Schindler. The band's name is derived from the Etruscan underworld god of the same name. Initially a solo project, Mantus released its first album Liebe Und Tod in 2000 after the addition of Schindler’s sister Tina (performing as Thalia), whose involvement introduced alternating male and female vocals. The project temporarily disbanded in early 2005 and released a best-of compilation titled Chronik in 2006 before reforming in late 2008. Notable albums include Requiem (2009), which followed the project’s return to activity and live debut at the Amphi Festival, and Melancholia (2015).
