Mazo Yamasaki, also known as Masonna, was born on November 16, 1966, in Miyazu, Kyoto, and is a Japanese noise musician who launched the Masonna project in Osaka in 1987. His releases include Shinsen Na Clitoris (1990), Mademoiselle Anne Sanglanate Ou Notre Nymphomanie Aureole (1993), and Beauty Beast (1999). In 1993, he formed the psychedelic space music group Christine 23 Onna with Fusao Toda. In 2000, he stopped Masonna activities because of health problems caused by intense live performances and started Space Machine, an electronic project based on analog synthesizers and vintage equipment. He has worked with artists including Merzbow, Keiji Haino, Boris, Acid Mothers Temple, Damo Suzuki, and Sonic Youth. His Space Machine releases include Cosmos from Diode Ladder Filter (2001), 2 (2002), and 3 (2003). In 2003, he formed the improvisational duo South Saturn Delta with Hiroshi Hasegawa of ASTRO.
