Cruciamentum is an English death metal band formed in 2007 by musicians from Stoke-on-Trent, Birmingham, and London. Originally established as a quartet, the band has undergone several lineup changes while maintaining its focus on death metal. Cruciamentum first gained attention with the EP Convocation of Crawling Chaos (2009), followed by the split release Eroding Chaos unto Ascendant Flesh with Vasaeleth and the EP Engulfed in Desolation, both issued in 2011. The band released its debut full-length album, Charnel Passages, in 2015, followed by its second studio album, Obsidian Refractions, in 2023. Cruciamentum's sound draws on the influence of bands such as Morbid Angel, Incantation, Immolation, Demigod, and Abhorrence, combining controlled songwriting with atmospheric synthesizers reminiscent of the interludes of early death metal albums and the soundtracks of Doom and Quake.
