Urs Leimgruber

Urs Leimgruber, born on January 1, 1952, in Lucerne, Switzerland, is a notable saxophonist known for his work in jazz and improvisational music. In 1972, he co-founded the Luzerner rock-jazz quartet OM, which achieved success with their "electric jazz-free music." Leimgruber later collaborated with Fritz Hauser, resulting in albums like Duho (1994) and Lines (1994). His solo performances and collaborations with Roger Turner and Alex Huber have been documented on albums such as The Pancake Tour (2012) and Lightnings (2015). He has received significant recognition such as the Art and Culture Prize of the City of Lucerne in 2003 and the Cultural Promotion Prize of the Canton of Lucerne in 2023.
