Ivar Antonsen, born 16 April 1946 in Fauske, Norway, is a Norwegian jazz pianist, educator, and composer. His early musical foundation began with accordion and organ, inspired by Art van Damme, before studying composition under Finn Mortensen at the Norwegian Academy of Music. He led the Ivar Antonsen Trio, collaborated with Bjørn Alterhaug, and played guitar on Thorgeir Stubø’s 1985 album Flight. In 1999, he released the solo album Double Circle. Antonsen later taught at California State University from 1995 to 2004 before joining the Norwegian Academy of Music as an associate professor. During his two decades in San Diego, he collaborated with musicians including Abhiman Kaushal, Duncan Moore, Bob Magnusson, and Andy LaVerne.
