Magnétophone, a UK musical group from Birmingham, England, was formed in 1995 by Matthew J Saunders and John Hanson. The duo met at an art school in 1992 and shared a passion for music. Their early work featured instrumental electronic tracks blending techno-ambient sounds. After releasing a series of singles and EPs in the late 1990s, the duo released their debut album, I Guess Sometimes I Need To Be Reminded Of How Much You Love Me, in 2000 under 4AD, receiving critical acclaim. The band's second album, The Man Who Ate The Man, followed in 2005. Magnétophone's sound combines psychedelia, electronica, folk, synth-pop, post-rock, ambient, and pop, balancing organic and electronic elements.
