Endvra, an Italian dark ambient group, was formed in 1993 under the name AbRAXAS by Stephen Pennick and Christopher Walton. The duo met through their shared interest in industrial music, leading to their first recordings in Pennick's private studio. After releasing their debut album Hexe, they changed their name to Endvra, inspired by the fasting rituals of the Cathars. Throughout the 1990s, Endvra released several albums, including Dreams Of Dark Waters (1994) and The Dark Is Light Enough (1996), often collaborating with independent labels such as Red Stream and Aesthetic Death Records. Their music, characterized by slow compositions and atmospheric soundscapes, was described as a soundtrack to an avant-garde art film. Endvra's lyrical themes drew from occultism, mysticism, and the works of H.P. Lovecraft. The group disbanded in 2001.
