The two members of the French rap group Mellowman, Lee Rick from Villeneuve-Saint-Georges and MC Solaar and DJ Cool (born Jean-Luc Crimée) from Paris, joined forces in 1994. Success was not long in coming, as that same year, "Gardez l'écoute" was included on the Paris Groove Up compilation, and MC Solaar gave them a great deal of exposure by inviting them on Prose Combat. " La Voie du Mellow" proved to be their greatest success, reaching number 13 in the sales charts in 1995. The duo's career was cut short by DJ Cool's death in a car accident on June 6 1998. After a two-year hiatus, however, Lee Rick will continue with the group until 2004.
