Afenginn, a Danish band formed in 2002 by Rune Kofoed and Kim Rafael Nyberg. They initially experimented with various styles before settling on a folk direction inspired by Hedningarna. Niels Skovmand and Rasmus Krøyer joined the band in 2002, and they played their first concert at Dragens Hule that same year. In 2004, they released their album Retrograd, which won the Danish Music Award for Best World Album. The band's orchestral project "Nordlyd: Afenginn in Symphony" followed in 2005. Their second album, Akrobakkus (2006), was nominated for several awards at the Danish Folk and World Music Awards. In 2008, they released Reptilica Polaris, which earned them the Danish Music Award for Best Contemporary Artist. They signed with Westpark Music in 2009 and released Bastard Etno that same year, winning the Danish Music Award for World Album of the Year in 2010. They also released Lux in 2013, followed by Opus in 2015.
