Cecil was an English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1993, comprising Ste Williams on vocals, Patrick Harrison and Anthony Hughes on guitar, Ally Lambert on drums, and Jay Bennett on bass. They attracted attention with the single "No Excuses" through Parlophone in October 1995, reaching number 89 on the UK singles chart. After signing a management contract with Raymond Coffer and a recording deal with Parlophone (EMI), they released their debut album Bombar Diddlah in 1996 and the single "My Neck" in March 1996, which peaked at number 93. During this period they toured the UK with The Wildhearts, Feeder, and Skunk Anansie, and in 1997 toured with Mansun while issuing the single "Red Wine at Dead Time" in June, reaching number 84. Their second album Subtitles in 1998 charted at number 132; the singles "Hostage in a Frock" (October 1997) and "The Most Tiring Day" (March 1998) peaked at number 68 and number 69. After sporadic touring, the band relocated to Seattle in 2001 to record a third album, but the project stalled after they were dropped from their label, and the band went their separate ways in March 2002. Members later formed Voy and Fridge Mountain Fires, and Ste Williams and Patrick Harrison founded Takotsubo Men in 2014.
