Making their professional debut in 1965 in New York City, the Grammy-winning New Swing Sextet is a popular exponent of Latin jazz, boogaloo, pop, salsa, soft pop, and funk. The group’s sound revolved around th piano, vibraphone, bass, Latin percussion and vocals. The group became very successful shortly after their formation, appealing to audiences in the US and Latin America during the rise of bossa nova and Latin jazz’s popularity at the time. The New Swing Sextet’s debut album, The Explosive New Swing Sextet, was released in 1967, the same year than their debut single, “Monkey See, Monkey Do”. They followed that release with A Taste of Spanish Harlem (1968), Swingin’ Along (1969), and Revolucionando (1970). The group fell apart in the ‘70s but returned with Back on the Streets (A Taste of Harlem, Vol. 2)(2008), Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow (2013), and Lo Que Te Traigo (2019).
