The Peppers was a French male instrumental group formed in 1973, consisting of keyboardist Mat Camison, bassist Tonio Rubio, and drummers Pierre-Alain Dahan and Jean Schultheis. The group was best known for its single “Pepper Box” (1973), which became a breakthrough hit, peaking at number 6 on the UK Singles Chart, number 76 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and number 34 on the US Hot Soul Singles chart. The track was included on their sole studio album, A Taste of Pepper, A Taste of Honey (1974), which peaked at number 25 on the Australian charts. The group released other singles, which include “Do It, Do It” (1974), “Doctor Music” (1974), and “Hot Caramel” (1974), before disbanding in 1974. Following their disbandment, Dahan and Camison recorded as V.I.P. Connection before Dahan co-founded the group Voyage, while Schultheis became a solo singer-songwriter.
