Entropies are a cinematic musical project who document human stories through live sound and moving image. Featuring vocals, keys, violin, cello, percussion, they describe their music as a fusion of genres, from ambient pop to neo-classical. Adapting songs they have composed for BBC documentary films, Entropies combine these scores with new writing to culminate in a musical style which unites raw storytelling with enduring melodies. Their most recent project, ‘Songs For Our Land’, partnered with the BBC Our World documentary: ‘Turkey's Earthquake: Those Who Stayed', was performed in a sold out mini-tour in London FUJI FILM UK, and Cambridge.
Influences include Portishead, Max Richter and Hania Rani as well as folk sounds, most recently featuring songwriting in both Turkish and English, and traditional percussion instruments such as darbuka. Their tracks have been featured on BBC Music Introducing and Radio X’s ‘X-Posure’ show with John Kennedy.
Entropies' debut EP 'The Harvest', will be released in 2025, with support from Help Musicians and the Bert Jansch Foundation.
