Tseitain Zhoima, born 1937 in Xigazê, China, was a soprano singer who began performing in childhood. She made her first public appearance in 1956 in Lhasa and later studied at the Shanghai Conservatory under Professor Wang Pinsu, after which she joined the Tibetische Sing- und Tanzgruppe as a soloist. Her breakthrough came with the 1959 National Day concert in Beijing, where she performed "Fanshen nongnu ba gechang" for the jubilee, earning widespread acclaim. Over the following decades she toured extensively across the Soviet Union, Southeast Asia, Europe, and the United States. In 2013 she released the album 唱支山歌给党听, solidifying her status as a cultural ambassador for Tibetan music. Her career was marked by multiple invitations to perform at state events, membership in the National People’s Congress, and recognition as a key figure in the promotion of Chinese and world music traditions.
