Miwako Okuda, born 奥田美和子 on February 13, 1982, in Yonago, Tottori Prefecture, Japan, is a Japanese singer known for her work in pop rock and rock music. From a young age, Miwako Okuda showed an interest in singing and aspired to become a professional vocalist. During her high school years, she gained attention through a concert with a group of friends, which led to her move to Tokyo to pursue a career in the music industry under Sony. Miwako Okuda's initial breakthrough came in 2000 when she released two singles, "Shizuku" and "Tsu-ki", under Defstar Records. "Shizuku" was notably used as the second ending theme for the anime Great Teacher Onizuka. Despite the modest success of these releases, her career faced a setback with the lackluster performance of "Tsu-ki". After a hiatus, Miwako Okuda returned in 2003 under BMG Funhouse with the single "Aozora no hate", marking a new chapter in her musical journey. In 2005, she released her debut album 二人 (Futari), which showcased a blend of pop and rock elements, featuring both ballads and more energetic tracks. The album's lyrics often explored themes of absence, doubt, and pain, setting it apart from typical J-pop content. Her second album, 君を想う (Kimi wo omou), returning in 2014 with "無限 (Mugen)".
