Headphones was an American indie rock, indietronica, and synth-pop band from Seattle, Washington, active between 2005 and 2006. Led by singer-songwriter David Bazan of Pedro the Lion, the group featured T. W. Walsh and Frank Lenz of Starflyer 59, with Nicholas Peterson, formerly of Fleet Foxes, performing as their touring drummer. The band's musical style was characterized by synthesizers paired with live drums and percussion, drawing comparisons to indie electronic acts such as The Postal Service, though Bazan intended the project to maintain a rock and roll feel. They released their eponymous debut studio album, Headphones, through the independent record label Suicide Squeeze Records in 2005, which was supported by extensive touring. Walsh subsequently departed the group for personal reasons, and the project was officially retired after the manager of Pedro the Lion, Bob Andrews, announced in 2011 that no further albums would be released under the Headphones moniker.
