Mikel Urdangarin Abasolo is a Spanish singer-songwriter who performs in Basque. Born in Amorebieta on 30 November 1971, Urdangarin graduated in teaching and worked as a professor in Vitoria before turning to music. He began his artistic career as a bertsolari and released his debut album Haitzetan in 1997, followed by Badira Hiru Aste in 1998 and Espilue in 2000. His subsequent releases include Bar Puerto with Bingen Mendizabal in 2001, Heldu artean in 2002, Zaharregia, txikiegia agian with Mendizabal, Kirmen Uribe, and Rafa Rueda in 2003, and Dana in 2005. Over his career, Urdangarin released eleven albums, including Anek idatzi dit zutaz in 2007, Zubia in 2009, Azula in 2012, MMXV in 2016, and Margolaria in 2017, which feature collaborations with writers and musicians such as Uribe and Rueda. He also released two DVDs titled Lagun Artean and Dana, singing exclusively in Basque.
