Tetsurō Oda, born 濱田 哲郎 on March 11, 1958, in Japan, is a composer and singer-songwriter. He began his music career as part of the rock band Why from 1978 to 1979 alongside Kenji Kitajima. Following this, Tetsurō Oda was a member of another rock band, Oda Tetsurō&9th IMAGE, from 1980 to 1981. He embarked on his solo career in 1981 and gained prominence as a songwriter in Japan during the late 1980s. In 1990, he won the 32nd Japan Record Award for the song "Odoru Pompokorin," co-written by Momoko Sakura and performed by B.B. Queens. His breakthrough came with the chart-topping single "Itsumademo Kawaranu Ai o" released in 1992. Throughout the 1990s, Tetsurō Oda composed over 50 Top 10 hit singles on the Japanese Oricon chart, including 12 that sold over 1 million copies each. He produced popular hit songs with artists such as Zard, Tube, Wands, Deen, and Field of View. His compositions have sold over 40 million units as of 2020, making him the third best-selling composer in the history of the Japanese singles chart. In 2000, he was attacked during a robbery attempt in Madrid, Spain, which damaged his vocal cords and temporarily halted his singing career. After a year of rehabilitation, he resumed live tours in 2002. He released two studio albums after that-One Night (2007) and W Face (2013).
