NASA, a Swedish synthpop group led by Patrik Henzel and Martin Thors, was named after the U.S. space agency. They debuted in 1983 with a single for a Swedish film and reached the national charts in 1985 with the hit "Paula", a top‑ten entry that marked their breakthrough. Although they recorded an album for the U.S., Columbia Records shelved the project. The band released their first album, Power of the Century, in 1985, followed by In the Mist of Time in 1986, before issuing a string of singles throughout the late 1980s. After a period of inactivity in the 1990s, NASA returned with the album Remembering the Future in 1999. Henzel passed away in 2020 at the age of 54.
