François Lindemann, born on September 17, 1950, in Lausanne, Switzerland, is a Swiss pianist known for his work in jazz. He studied classical piano at the Conservatory of Lausanne before transitioning to jazz, influenced by artists like Clifford Brown and John Coltrane. Lindemann's breakthrough came with the formation of the quartet CM 4 in 1974, which performed extensively in Switzerland and France. The group received a gold record in Spain for their live performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1975, documented on the album Live in Montreux 75. Throughout his career, Lindemann has led various ensembles and collaborated with international artists such as Carla Bley and Alvin Queen. Notable albums include Piano-Duo (1982), Solo (1994), and Friends Friends Friends (2012).
