Georges Barre, known professionally as Jordi Barre, was born on 7 April 1920 in Argelès-sur-Mer, France. He started performing in village dances and later worked various jobs before focusing on music. In the mid-1960s, poet Estève Albert encouraged him to pursue singing full-time. His breakthrough came with his move to Barcelona in 1974, where he connected with key figures of the Nova Cançó movement. He performed at the Olympia in Paris in 1983 and gained recognition for his deep voice and charismatic stage presence. Notable collaborations include a duet with Cali and a song with Tchéky Karyo in 2009. He received the Creu de Sant Jordi from Jordi Pujol in 1992. He passed away on 6 February 2011, at the age of 90. His final album releases were Dona and Soc, both posthumously released in March 2011.
