Gert-Jan Prins, born in 1961 in IJmuiden, Netherlands, is a Dutch musician known for his work in free improvisation. He began his career as a free jazz percussionist before transitioning to producing and manipulating sound, particularly white and pink noise, using custom-built FM radio transmitters and receivers, similar to those employed by American composer David Tudor. Prins has been active in electronic and experimental music since the 1980s, releasing works such as Noise Capture (1998). In 2004, he released Risk, followed by Cavity (2008) and Break Before Make (2008). He is a member of M.I.M.E.O., a 12-piece electronic orchestra led by Keith Rowe, and has collaborated with artists including Thomas Lehn, Thomas Ankersmit, Cor Fuhler, and Peter van Bergen.
