Ilpo Vaisanen

Ilpo Väisänen, born on October 12, 1963, in Kuopio, Finland, is an electronic musician. In the mid-1980s, he moved to Turku to study art and began engaging with various music groups. Around 1987, he met Mika Vainio, a DJ who would become his long-term companion. Together, they founded Pan Sonic in 1993, releasing their first EP on Tommi Grönlund's label Sähkö Recordings in 1994. Väisänen has released several solo albums, including Asuma (2001) and Äänet (2018), a tribute to Mika Vainio who passed away in 2017. In 2022, he released Keskipäivän Hetken Sumea Vaillinaisuus on the Berlin-based label I Shall Sing Until My Land is Free, supporting Ukrainian resistance against the Russian invasion.
