Volcano, I'm Still Excited!! is an American indie rock ensemble formed in 2002 in Brooklyn. The group originally originated in Austin and consisted of Mark Duplass, Craig Montoro, John Thomas Robinette III, and Byron Westbrook. Duplass established the band after a tendinitis diagnosis prevented him from playing guitar, leading him to utilize the organ. The ensemble released the debut EP Carbon Copy in 2002, which featured the recording “The New Brad”. After signing with Polyvinyl, the band released its self-titled debut studio recording, Volcano, I'm Still Excited!!, on February 17, 2004. The group's name was reportedly inspired by the film Joe Versus the Volcano. Montoro later contributed to recordings by Sufjan Stevens, while Duplass performed as an actor, writer, and director for productions including The League and The Morning Show.
