In 2020, Germany-based composers Sascha and Saman decided to take their mutual love for music and meet the chaos caused by the ongoing global pandemic head-on with something to take people far and away from the stress of daily life. Cookie Tapes is that vehicle, created with passion and emotion, with one goal in mind: Chill Sascha and Saman come from different branches of music - Sascha from Drum & Bass, Saman from Soul / R&B / Hip Hop - they realized early on that their partnership yielded music they could both invest in, heart and soul. "We work together at the same music company, and we were both curious about what the other guy was doing musically. Both of us had the idea of working together but we never talked about it. It happened purely by accident that we got to talking at the end of a conference - this was at the beginning of the first lockdown - which developed into a project with some other people as well. That eventually fell apart because of musical differences, but we recognized from the very beginning that it worked because we have the same expectations and the same goals. We knew this had potential to grow and do it long term." As of May 2021, Cookie Tapes has released one full album, three EPs and several simgles, numbering somewhere between 40 and 50 tracks in total. The album Triple Chocolate is a collection of compositions from 2020, while the EPs - Moody Blue Avenue, Reflection Of The Eastern Sun, and Silent Woods - are 4-song concept pieces based on creating a specific mood mood and atmosphere. The duo hasn't stopped composing since the launch of Cookie Tapes, and they have no intention of slowing down. With regards to the Cookie Tapes name, it suits Sascha and Saman's collective mindset perfectly. "It was big deal trying to come up with a name. It was difficult, but Sascha eventually came up with the idea of using 'Cookie' and adding something to it. 'Tapes' was one of the words that came up and it just worked for us. First of all, everyone loves cookies. And cassette tapes are vintage, they're connected to nostalgia in a big way. That combination of words clicked for us on a number of levels, so we went with it."
