Singer, songwriter and producer Stevie Appleton is also a pianist and guitarist who writes and performs his own material with a bluesy twist and a distinctive voice over up-beat drums. He has been performing in bars and clubs since the age of 15, playing cover versions of artists such as Elton John and Billy Joel alongside his own compositions. He wrote single 'Dirty Funk' in 2009 and included it in album 'When the Sun Comes Up' in the same year. The album shows influences of pop, rock, funk and dance, and was completely written and produced by Appleton. In 2010, he was selected to perform 'Everyone', the theme tune for the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics with an artist from each of the continents represented.
His second album, 'Colours', was released in Japan in 2011, and the lead single 'Sparks' reached number 21 in the Oricon Hot 100 Singles Chart. In 2016, he featured on the Sick Individuals single 'People I Love', and in 2017 featured on the CMC$ single 'Those Lights'. A further collaboration with Afro Bros featuring Charity Black and Appleton called 'So Much Love' was released in 2018.
In 2018, Appleton was spotted by Dutch record label Spinnin' Records and invited to attend a songwriting programme with them. This led to him truly discovering his original sound, a combination of all of his previous influences. He released the single 'Supposed to Do' in 2018 by taking drum riffs from the 1950s and 1960s and adapting them by removing some of the cymbal sounds and creating new loops, over which he then improvised. The song was highly acclaimed and reached several million streams online in a short space of time. Equally popular was his next single release 'Sinner' in 2019.
