The Scottish rock band The Snuts were formed in Whitburn in 2015, by Jack Cochrane (singer and guitarist), Jordan Mackay (drummer), Joe McGillveray (guitarist), and Callum Wilson (bassist) when they were all teenagers, schoolmates, and friends. Inspired by punk-influenced bands like The Libertines and Arctic Monkeys, their debut single, “Glasgow” started to gain popularity online. After the 2017 EP The Matador, they released their first commercial single, Seasons”, in 2018. IT garnered favorable reviews for its energy and classicist approach to British indie rock. They signed to Parlaphone. They scored their first charting single with “Maybe California” in 2019 and scored their big breakthrough in 2020 with three top 40 hits in their home country including the Number 2 hit “Elephants” and the chart-topping “Always”. That success drove their 2020 EP Mixtape to the Number 1 in Scotland and Number 14 in the UK. In 2021 they issued their debut LP, W.L. which contained those two earlier hit singles and eleven other tracks.
