American country artist Corey Kent was born on June 21, 1994, in Bixby, Oklahoma. He began performing live at the age of 11 and soon enough he was already opening for legendary acts such as Roy Clark and The Oak Ridge Boys. After being brought up on stage to perform during a Willie Nelson concert, Corey Kent decided to move to Nashville to become a professional singer-songwriter. However, things didn't go as planned and he returned to his home state shortly after. There, he began writing songs and performing live in different nightclubs while attending Oklahoma State University. A few years later, Corey Kent relocated to Nashville once again and recorded an independently released EP in 2014 before rising to fame in the singing competition The Voice in 2015. Despite not making it to the finals, some of the covers he performed during the show managed to chart on the US country charts. Long Way, his studio debut, appeared in 2016. Corey Kent returned to the charts in 2022 with "Wild as Her," a Tyler Joe Miller cover that peaked at number 15 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart. The song was included in Corey Kent's 2021 second studio LP '21, followed by a third album titled Blacktop in 2023. A year later, he unveiled his fourth full-length Black Bandana, which featured the single "This Heart" and the Lauren Alaina collaboration "Now or Never."
