Frost - born Arturo Molina, Jr. in Los Angeles, California on May 31, 1964 - is a Mexican-American rapper and songwriter who originally performed under the name Kid Frost and his best known for his single “La Raza”.  He was one of the first high-profile Latin rappers signed to a major record label. Raised on military bases in Guam and Germany as well as in Los Angeles, he began his rap career in 1982 as Kid Frost. he has stated that his early DJs were future NWA members Dr. Dre and DJ Yella. He soon turned to breakdancing for funk collective Uncle Jamm’s Army. Kid Frost returned to the rap game and released three singles in 1984 and 1985 on independent labels. After signing with Virgin Records, he released his debut album Hispanic Causing Panic in 1990. The album’s second single, “La Raza”, reached Number 6 on Billboard’s Rap/Hip Hop Singles chart and Number 42 on the Hot 100. Kid Frost then formed rap super group Latin Alliance, who released their self-titled album in 1991. East Side Story (1992), his second  solo album, featured guest appearances by A.L.T., MC Eight, and Ganxta Ridd (Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E.). Leaving Virgin Records, he dropped ‘Kid’ from his name and would continue to record as Frost throughout the rest of his career. While albums like Smile Now, Die Later (1995), When Hell.A. Freezes Over (1997) and Still Up in This Shit (2002) charted, they were not nearly as successful as his first two albums. He continued to release a series of albums including Welcome to Frost Angeles (2005), Till the Wheels Fall Off (2006), and The Good Man (2013). In 2016, Frost announced that he had been diagnosed with cancer.
