Canadian rockers April Wine were originally formed by the Henman brothers David and Ritchie playing guitar and drums along with cousin Jim on bass and Myles Goodwin on vocals and guitar. Hugely popular in Canada and the States, the band have undergone numerous personnel changes over the years as well as a break-up and subsequent reunion. The only remaining founder member is songwriter Myles Goodwin. The band's first album, the self-titled April Wine was released in 1971, followed up in 1972 with On Record and so began a rollercoaster career defined by multiple line-up changes and a string of successful singles and albums. On Record featured a rock cover of Hot Chocolate's You Could Have Been A Lady. The stylised version of the pop classic was well received, hitting number five in Canada and staying in the Billboard Hot 100 for eleven weeks. The frequent line-up changes did little to harm the band's appeal and they continued to build on this early success with numerous gold and platinum selling singles and albums. By the end of the 1980s cracks started to appear within the band's structure and they stopped touring. In 1992 the band returned to the stage, immediately picking up where they had left off and in 1993 their album Attitude, the band's first recording for ten years, went gold in Canada. More albums followed and nowadays April Wine remain a popular touring act in their native Canada frequently appearing at festivals across the world.
