Osvaldo Lenine Macedo Pimentel, who goes by the single name Lenine, is a singer-songwriter in the música popular Brasileira (MPB) tradition with a mix of Latin pop, rock and blues. He has earned several Latin Grammy Award nominations with six wins and he has written a vast number of songs many of which have been recorded by artists such as Maria Bethânia, Zélia Duncan, Daniela Mercury and Milton Nascimento. Born in northeast Brazil, he began his musical career as a teenage in Rio de Janeiro and made his recording debut in 1983 with the album 'Baque Solto' with Lula Queiroga. He earned Grammy Award Mexican-American album nominations for 'Nuestro Tiempo' (1990) and 'Un Nuevo Comienzo' (1992) and released 'Olho de Peize' (1993) with Marcos Suzano and 'O Dia em que Faremos Contato' (1997).
'Na Pressão' was nominated for a Latin Grammy as Best MPB Recording in 2000 and 'Falange Canibal' (2002) and 'Cité' (2005) won the Latin Grammy for Best Portuguese Language Album and the track 'Ninguém fan Idéia' won as Best Portuguese Language Song. His 2006 release 'Segundo' won for Best MPB Album and he was nominated as Producer of the Year. 'Acústico MTV' (2007) won as Best Portuguese Language Pop Album and the track 'Martelo Bigorna' won as Best Portuguese Language Pop Song in 2009. He picked up further song nominations for 'Amor É Pro Quem Ama' (2012) and 'Simples Assim' (2015) and the album 'Carbono' (2015). His 2018 schedule included performances at venues in Rio de Janeiro.
