Bill Douglas, born November 7, 1944 in London, Ontario, Canada, is a Canadian musician and composer. He began playing piano at age four and started composing songs influenced by early rock musicians at eight. Douglas received an "Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Toronto" diploma in classical piano at seventeen and obtained a BA in music education from the University of Toronto from 1962 to 1966. In 1967, he played three concerti with the Toronto Symphony. After receiving a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship in 1966, Douglas attended Yale University until 1969, where he met clarinetist Richard Stoltzman and they began their long-standing collaboration. Throughout his career, Douglas has released numerous albums including Jewel Lake (1988), Cantilena (1991), Kaleidoscope (1993), and Circle of Moons (1995). In 1994, he received the classical composer of the year award from SOCAN. His compositions have been performed by major orchestras worldwide.
