Phillip Joseph Fearon, born on July 30, 1956, in Jamaica, was a British singer and record producer. At six years old, he moved to London with his parents. Fearon began his music career by running a reggae sound system before joining the band Hott Wax, which later evolved into Hi-Tension. He then joined the group Kandidate, which achieved a number 11 chart hit in 1979 with "I Don't Wanna Lose You". In the early 1980s, Fearon conceived Galaxy as a studio project but was encouraged to front the act himself. Their first recording, "Head Over Heels", became a club hit in 1982. Galaxy's breakthrough came with the top 5 hit "Dancing Tight" in 1983, followed by four more UK top 40 singles including the top 10s "What Do I Do?" and "Everybody's Laughing". Their debut album, Phil Fearon & Galaxy, reached the top 10 in 1984. In 1986, Fearon returned to the top 10 with a revival of Tony Etoria's "I Can Prove It", produced by Stock Aitken Waterman. He continued his production work and founded Production House Records in 1987. Fearon has since appeared at various festivals and soul nights around the UK and abroad, continuing his musical career into the present day.
