The British techno group Bizarre Inc released a number of internationally-charting dance singles during the 1990s, with songs like "I'm Gonna Get You" and "Took My Love" becoming hits on both sides of the Atlantic. Formed in 1989 in Stafford, England, Bizarre Inc initially consisted of DJs Dean Meredith and Mark Archer. When Mark Archer left the group one year later to focus on projects like Altern-8, Dean Meredith added Andrew Meecham and Carl Turner to Bizarre Inc's lineup. This incarnation debuted in 1990 with the double-sided single "Bizarre Theme/X-Static," although it was the group's follow-up release, "Playing with Knives," that helped turn Bizarre Inc into one of the bigger names in acid-house music. Written and produced by the band's three DJs, "Playing with Knives" hit the UK Singes Chart in March 1991 and remained there for much of the year, eventually climbing to Number 4. "Such a Feeling" became a Number 13 hit that same year. Bizarre Inc's popularity spread to other countries in 1992, when the group began working with vocalist Angie Brown. "I'm Gonna Get You," a track from Bizarre Inc's album Energique, reached Number 3 in both the UK and the Netherlands, while also climbing to Number 1 on the American and Canadian dance charts. Another track from the same album, "Took My Love," became the group's second Number 1 hit in Canada and the US. Bizarre Inc maintained its popularity in Europe with the group's 1996 album, Surprise, which sent three tracks — "Keep the Music Strong," "Surprise," and "Get Up (Sunshine Street)" — into the Top 20 of the UK Dances Singles chart. Although the group never released another album, a remix of "Playing with Knives" became a Number 1 dance hit in the UK in 1999, with Andrew Meecham and Dean Meredith continuing to work together as the dance production team Chicken Lips.
