911 was formed in Glasgow in 1995 by dancers Jimmy Constable and Simon “Spike” Dawbarn, who later recruited singer Lee Brennan after meeting manager Steve Gilmour; the trio began touring schools and clubs before establishing Ginga Records. Their breakthrough came with the April 1996 release of the cover "Night to Remember", which entered the UK Singles Chart at number 38, followed by "Love Sensation" in July that peaked at number 21. In September 1996 the group signed a £3.5 million, four‑album deal with Virgin Records, and released The Journey in March 1997, achieving Gold certification from the BPI in November. Subsequent albums Moving On (1998) and There It Is (1999) each reached the UK top 20, and the single "A Little Bit More" topped the UK Singles Chart in January 1999, marking the group’s only Number  1 hit. By the end of 1999 The Greatest Hits and a Little Bit More was issued, including the final single "Wonderland", after which the group disbanded on 26 February 2000. In 2012 the band reunited for ITV2’s The Big Reunion, leading to a 2013 arena tour and the release of Illuminate… (The Hits and More) with the single "2 Hearts 1 Love". Subsequent appearances included a 2019 reunion concert in Kuala Lumpur and a 2023 collaboration with Vietnamese artist Đức Phúc on a bilingual version of "I Do".
