Biografia

Australian singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett, whose debut album 'Sometimes I Sit and Think and Sometimes I Just Sit' won four ARIA Awards in her home country and also garnered international attention when she was nominated as Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards and Best International Female at the Brits. The album peaked at number 16 on the UK Albums Chart.

Born in Sydney, she began her career in Melbourne where she played in a garage band called Rapid Transit. After a stint with another group, Immigrant Union, she released an EP titled 'I've Got a Friend' in 2012. One of the songs, 'Avant Gardener', was cited on the summer's Best New Tracks by the website Pitchfork and she followed it with another EP, 'How to Carve a Carrot Into a Rose', which featured 'History Eraser' and earned an ARIA nomination as Song of the Year.

A double EP, 'A Split of Peas', attracted further interest internationally and one of her tracks, 'Pickles from a Jar', was included in well-received vinyl releases by Milk! Records. In 2016 she performed on the American TV show 'Saturday Night Live' and was a guest on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon'. In 2017 she recorded an album with Philadelphia-based Kurt Vile called 'Lotta Sea Lice' and it was released later in the year, followed by a North American tour.
