MoKenStef, an American R&B trio from Los Angeles, was formed in 1994 and comprised Monifa Bethune, Kenya Hadley, and Stefanie Sinclair. The group's name is a combination of the first syllables of each member's name. MoKenStef began their journey as background dancers for various hip-hop acts before transitioning into vocalists. Their breakthrough came when they were discovered by Outburst Records owners Jesse and Anthony Lewis in 1994, leading to their signing with the label under Def Jam. MoKenStef released their debut album Azz Izz in 1995, which featured their biggest hit "He's Mine", peaking at Number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100. The group also performed "He's Mine" on television shows such as Soul Train and Video Soul. Their second single "Sex in the Rain" reached Number 41 on the US R&B chart. In 1996, MoKenStef contributed to the soundtrack of the film Phat Beach with the song "Jock'n Me". The group attempted a comeback in 2000 with the promotional single "He Say She Say", but it was unsuccessful. MoKenStef officially disbanded that same year. In 2014, they reunited as a live act.
