Banshee, an American heavy metal band, was formed in 1986 in Kansas City, Missouri. The group initially consisted of guitarist Terry Dunn and members from other local acts. Their first release was the EP Cry in the Night in August 1986. In September 1989, Banshee released their debut album Race Against Time on Atlantic Records' Titanium label. The band's lineup changed frequently over the years, with notable members including Tommy Lee Flood and Chuck Hopkins. After disbanding in 1993 following the release of Take 'Em by Storm, Banshee reunited for various shows between 1999 and 2008. In June 2012, they released their third studio album Mindslave on Snowblind Records. The band signed with Visionary Noise Records in May 2017 and released The Madness in July 2019. Banshee's entire catalogue was reissued by Cabal Records in October 2024, including limited edition picture discs.
