Biografia

Today one of the house scene’s most recognisable singers, southern Californian singer-songwriter Anabel Englund (born on September 1st, 1992 in New York) enjoyed her first major breakthrough in the industry as a topliner, lending her voice to a plethora of songs by larger acts. Debuting in 2012 with the PeaceTreaty collaboration “In Time”, an electro number signed to Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Records, she soon caught the attention of deep house sensations MK and Lee Foss, who invited her to sing on “Electricity”, released via Foss’s coveted Hot Creations label. With her distinctive vocal tone and the hint of huskiness it carries allowing listeners to easily identify her even in unreleased works, Englund promptly drummed up a loyal following, scoring an international chart hit in the form of the 2013 Hot Natured collaboration “Reverse Skydiving”. Continuing to reap the rewards of “Electricity”, she joined forces with Foss and MK to form the supergroup Pleasure State, who released a four-track EP entitled Ghost In the System the following year. After inking deals with Three Six Zero and Warner, who were eagerly anticipating her solo debut, Englund eventually returned in November 2016 with her long-awaited first single, “London Headache”. Released via house behemoth Defected, it signalled a step into the indie dance realm, with Englund’s brother, Jackson, and his Mont Blvck bandmate, Diego Cuevas, on production duties. Following high-profile appearances on Amtrac’s “Old Times” and CID’s Spinnin’-signed “Use Me Up”, Englund resurfaced in 2019 with a string of new solo material, seamlessly leading into the release of her 2020 debut album Messing With Magic. Boasting productions from Hot Creations co-founder Jamie Jones, Juno Award-winning youngster Nick Henriques and even Anabel herself, the LP yielded several hit singles, with “Picture Us” topping Billboard’s Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart, beating her #2 record set by the MK-produced "Underwater".
