LÓPEZ, a Chilean pop rock band from Santiago, was founded in 2015 by brothers Álvaro and Gonzalo López, former members of the renowned group Los Bunkers. Following the disbandment of Los Bunkers in March 2014, Álvaro and Gonzalo returned to Chile after five years in Mexico and soon began crafting their new musical project. They first appeared as a duo on the tribute album and concert Te veré volver with a cover of Gustavo Cerati's "Corazón delator." By November of the same year, they had recorded their first tracks with drummer Diego Fuchslocher and keyboardist Martín Benavides, officially debuting as LÓPEZ. The band made a strong entrance into the music scene, releasing their first single "Me voy" in March 2015, just before their performance at Lollapalooza Chile. Later that year, they followed up with the single "Lo que pudo ser." Their debut album, LÓPEZ Vol 1., was released in 2016, establishing them as a significant force in the Chilean rock scene. The band continued to make waves with performances at major events like Lollapalooza Chile 2017 and La Cumbre del Rock Chileno in 2017 and 2018. In 2021, Álvaro hinted at the release of their first studio album in 2022, with plans for even more music in the works.
