E Nomine is a German music project founded in Berlin in 1999 by producers Christian Weller (*1962) and Friedrich Graner (*1962). The project combines electronic music styles such as trance, techno and new age with Gregorian choirs and spoken texts, which are often performed by well-known voice actors such as Christian Brückner and Frank Glaubrecht. The band itself describes its style as "monumental dance". The debut album Das Testament is released on November 12, 1999 and reaches number 23 in the German charts. The single "Vater Unser" is a great success and reaches number 4 in Germany and number 1 in Austria. The second album Finsternis follows on January 21, 2002 and climbs to number 3 in the German charts. It receives a gold record for over 150,000 units sold. On April 14, 2003, E Nomine released the third studio album Die Prophezeiung, which reached number 12 in the German charts. 2004 sees the release of the compilation Das Beste aus... Gottes Beitrag und Teufels Werk, which contains new songs as well as well-known titles. After the release of the single "Das Böse" in 2005, the project withdraws from the public eye. However, an official dissolution is never announced. In 2008, Weller and Graner founded the successor project Schlafes Bruder and released the album Heute war Gott nicht hier in 2013. 2022 E Nomine returned with remastered versions of earlier works. This is followed by new releases of Das Testament, Finsternis and Die Prophezeiung in 2023.
