Green Valley is a Spanish reggae and dancehall band. Established in 2001 in Vitoria, Spain, the band is renowned not only for their unique reggae music style but also for their commitment to social activism, highlighting social injustices and spreading positive messages on a global scale. The group's founder, Ander Valverde, named the project after his surname, which translates to "Green Valley" in English. Initially, Green Valley was a solo endeavor with the first EP, El Sueño Perdido (2001), performed entirely by Ander Valverde. However, after relocating to Barcelona, the band grew to include members Egoitz Uriarte, Ander Larrea, Juantxi Fernández, and Jonathan Sánchez, all originating from the Alava and Catalonia regions of Spain. Their second EP, Inmigrantes, released in 2007, propelled the band to new levels of popularity and opened opportunities for them to perform across Spain. In 2010, they released their debut album En Tus Manos. Over the ensuing years, they expanded their discography with albums such as the politically charged La Voz del Pueblo (2012), the acoustic Mírame a los Ojos (2013), and Hijos de la Tierra (2014), which marked their tenth anniversary as a band. Each album further entrenched their standing in the Spanish music scene. Their fifth studio album, AHORA (2016), showcased collaborations with renowned artists like Morodo, Fyahbwoy, Rapsusklei, La Tifa, and Movimiento Original. In 2021, Green Valley released the single "Las Ganas de Vivir," in collaboration with Italian singer Alborosie. Their latest album, La Llave Maestra, was introduced in 2022.
