With his long dark hair, leather jacket and punk rock t-shirts, Nemanja Radulovic looks more like a a rock band front man than a violin virtuoso, yet the young Serbian star quickly made a name for himself in the world of classical music and built a reputation as a passionate and flamboyant performer. Growing up in the city of Nis during the Bosnian War, Radulovic started playing at seven-years-old and studied at a music school in Saarbrucken, Germany before moving to France aged 14 with his family after the troubles had ended. He honed his talents under the mentorship of Patrice Fontanarosa in Paris, and got his break when he was a last minute replacement to perform with Myung-Whun Chung and the Orchestre Philharmonique De Radio France in 2006. An expressive, energetic livewire on stage, he took on compositions by Bach, Mendelssohn and Schubert on his early albums, before working with his ensemble Devil's Trills on their self-titled debut in 2011. He is also part of the chamber music group Double Sens and, after signing with German label Deutsch Gramophone, he released acclaimed solo records Paganini Fantasy and Journey East, on which he was inspired by his lifelong travels across Europe and the classical, gypsy, folk and pop music he encountered along the way.
